Jarrow Hall. Built in 1785 by Simon Temple, a local businessman. The hall has featured in several Catherine Cookson dramas as well as other TV productions.
Jarrow Abbey, or Bede's Monastery was started in 682AD, raided by Vikings in 794AD (hence the town's Viking connection), and eventually abandoned in the 9th century. It was home to the Venerable Bede, whos remains now lie in Durham Cathedral. In the background St Paul's church can be seen.
One of Britain's tallest pylons, this one in Jarrow and it's sister in Howden carry high tension cables over ships operating along the Tyne.
